TextEN | Heros was built to the French standard plan by Noel Jacques Sane (3rd rate), laid down in 1796 and launched at Rochfort in 1801. She fought at Trafalgar and was captured in Cadiz harbour in 1808. As modelled, the Heros carries a small cabin on the poop, this was a common feature of many French and Spanish ships of the late 18th and early 19th centuries. | |
